St Cuthberts U8′s 0 Crosfields U8′s 10

Posted by Cobras Team of 2020 On January - 13 - 2010

The Cobras Team of 2020 travel to Wigan on what started out as a wash out but just before the game started the rain stopped and managed to hold off for the remainder of the match!!

Captain and debutant Joshua Hobben won the toss and decided to defend first.

The Cobras held tight and even managed to make St Cuthbert’s lose yards. The ball was now in the Cobras hands and with some good hit ups by Joshua Hobden, Joe Payne, Alex Burns and Marshall Jones which set up good field position for Tyler Roberts to run round and through the defense to score 0-4 Cobras.

With the Cobras holding tight for the remainder of the first half it was the Cobras attacking play that also caught the eye. Completing a first half hat-trick was Player of the Match Joe Kohe-Love with 2 great individual tries that shows why he has been nicknamed the ‘Hot Stepper’ and the other showing great support play when Tyler Roberts got caught by the St Cuthberts  defenders only to turn in the tackle and found Joe Kohe-Love in support who ran over for a try. The other scorer in the first half was Ben Lomax who stepped and straightened up to go over for a try after some great running by Sam Belton and Marshall Jones.

HT- 0-20 Cobras

With the introduction of Dean Bedall,Tom Burns and Ravir Sidhu and no Jaffa’s this week as the Co-op had sold out. the Cobras had to listen to some stern words from their Coach.

With the Cobras starting with the ball, first run went to Big Rav who is now running with determination and gains valuable yards for the Cobras on every run, with further runs from Tom Burns and Dean Beddall the Cobras where 10 meters short and a quick play of the ball allowed Luke Little to score. Top Attacker Luke Little went on to score a further 2 tries to complete his hat-trick with the last of his tries being a well worked training ground move between the Top Tackler Tyler Roberts and Luke Little who exchanged passes for a well worked try. And with Joe Kohe-Love adding  further try the Cobras were in a commanding lead. 0-36 Cobras

The final try of the game went to Dean Beddall who deserved it after some good strong running and solid defense, he crashed over from 20 yards out after running on to the ball like a steam train, this was after great runs by Marshall Jones and Tom Burns to put us in striking range.

TRIES: Joe K-L(4), Luke(3), Ben(1),Dean (1) and Tyler (1),
