Under 16s V’s Burtonwood

Fresh from their success at the Leyland festival at the weekend and on the back of a 6 match winning run Crosfields under 16s paid a visit to neighbours Burtonwood Bulldogs in a pre-season friendly.

Crosfields still missing players through suspensions and with injuries started slowly allowing Burtonwood to take an early lead before coming back to level the game with some good attacking rugby. Crosfields had the chance to win the game with a penalty in front of the sticks with minutes to play, they chose to run it and the Burtonwood defence held solid.

With only minutes left on the clock Crosfields hooker Ryan Crowley ran a cracking hold line to create space for Craig Lawton to go 70 meters and put the ball down under the sticks to win the game.

Crosfields Coach Steve Fox commented ‘Not the most polished performance but the lads put their bodies on the line and beating a team from the division above bodes well for the new season that is fast approaching us’.
